TL;DR: On 14 October 2026 (Australian time), Apple announced three home products for Australia: Apple HomeView, a 7-inch smart display (A$449), HomePod mini 2 (A$229) and a 4th-generation Apple TV 4K (A$449). All three can be pre-ordered now. HomePod mini 2 lands on 30 October and the other two on 13 November. Apple also announced the Home Collection of cameras, a doorbell, a lock and thermostats made with LG and Schneider Electric, but it isn't coming to Australia at launch. Siri AI, Apple's new, more conversational Siri, is the main feature of the line-up.

What did Apple announce in October 2026?

Apple's announcement covers the home rather than a new iPhone or Mac. There are four parts:

  • Apple HomeView: a new 7-inch screen for the kitchen bench or hallway wall.
  • HomePod mini 2: the small speaker, now in new colours and ready for Siri AI.
  • Apple TV 4K (4th generation): with hands-free Siri AI and stronger home hub features.
  • Apple Home Collection: third-party smart home gear sold by Apple, for the US, Canada and the UK only for now.

How much do the new Apple products cost in Australia?

What is Apple HomeView?

HomeView is Apple's take on the smart home display. It has a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen and handles music, FaceTime, home monitoring and smart home control. It also recognises people by their face, so each person in the house sees their own Messages, Calendar, Reminders and Find My rather than a shared view. You can stand it on a bench or mount it on a wall. The wall version needs one of the Schneider Home power mounts, which are sold separately.

Its main feature is Siri AI, a rebuilt Siri that Apple says is more conversational and can draw on your personal context from a paired iPhone. One catch: the personal-context features need a fairly recent device. Apple lists the iPhone 17 Pro models, iPhone Air, iPhone 18 Pro models, iPhone Duo, or an M4-or-later iPad with 12GB of memory. Siri AI on HomeView supports English in Australia.

HomeView features (Apple Newsroom)

  • 7-inch Liquid Retina display for entertainment, FaceTime, home monitoring, and smart home control in one place.
  • Aluminium design with a domed speaker base and stainless steel hinge for smooth tilt on tabletops of any height.
  • Tabletop colours: silver, starlight, rose pink, and space grey, each with a colour-matched USB-C cable.
  • True Tone and adaptive brightness from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits; the interface adjusts based on how close you are.
  • Recognises up to six people by face, with a personalised Home Screen (apps and widgets) for each user.
  • Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence — conversational, with onscreen awareness and broad world knowledge.
  • Personal context from a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad (Messages, Calendar, Apple Music, and more).
  • Custom acoustic system with Spatial Audio, a down-firing woofer, and force-cancelling passive radiators in the base.
  • Apple Music (with lyrics and animated album art), Apple Podcasts, Apple News, Apple TV, and compatible third-party apps; Handoff from iPhone.
  • FaceTime with Centre Stage, Messages, Intercom, Find My, Live Activities, and web recipes with hands-free timers.
  • Smart home control by touch or Siri AI; Home Modular and Home Camera faces (livestream up to nine feeds at once).
  • Secure Exclaves on the A18 chip for camera and microphone data; Siri can use on-device processing or Private Cloud Compute.

Schneider Home power mounts for wall-mounted HomeView

A separate wall-mounted HomeView model — in space grey and silver — offers the same 7-inch Liquid Retina display, features, and rich audio as the tabletop version. Apple says it attaches with three purpose-built mounts from Schneider Home (sold separately; Australian RRPs are in the table above).

Schneider power mounts (Apple Newsroom)

  • Wall-mounted HomeView (space grey and silver) uses the same 7-inch display and feature set as the tabletop model.
  • Three purpose-built Schneider Home mounts are designed specifically for wall-mounted HomeView.
  • Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector — from RRP A$94.95 inc. GST; pre-order now in Australia.
  • Power Mount AC Wired — from RRP A$124.95 inc. GST; pre-order now in Australia.
  • Power Mount PoE Wired — RRP A$199.95 inc. GST; available from early 2027.
  • Wall-mounted HomeView hardware is RRP A$449 inc. GST in Australia (mount pricing is additional).
  • USB-C and AC wired mounts can be ordered from apple.com/au/store and the Apple Store app.
  • On-wall audio uses two custom drivers with computational audio tuned for wall placement.

What's new in HomePod mini 2?

HomePod mini 2 comes in pink, green, blue, white and midnight, and Apple says the audio has improved. It works with Siri AI, but Siri AI arrives in a future software update, not on day one. You can pair two for stereo, and with four of them and the new Apple TV 4K you get Apple's four-speaker surround setup. It can also control smart home accessories and run automations by voice.

HomePod mini 2 features (Apple Newsroom)

  • Siri AI (via a future software update) — conversational assistant with personal context and richer music discovery.
  • Pre-order in Australia in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight; RRP A$229 inc. GST; in stores from Friday 30 October 2026.
  • Recognises up to six users in a household by voice when paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone.
  • Siri AI can act on personal context across iPhone and iPad apps (songs from Messages, calendar reminders, recipes from email, grocery lists, and more).
  • Broad world knowledge and natural back-and-forth conversations once Siri AI is enabled on the speaker.
  • Apple S10 chip with computational audio that optimises dynamic range, loudness, and acoustic performance in real time.
  • 360-degree sound as a single speaker, stereo pair, or part of a multiroom audio setup.
  • Four-speaker surround sound with Apple TV 4K (4th generation); speakers and TV auto-calibrate position in the room.
  • Sound Glow — the top glows and pulses with music, colour-matched to album art; optional soundscapes like rain.
  • Voice-controlled smart home actions (locks, garage, blinds, lights) plus Home app automations and scenes.
  • Works as a home hub to control accessories from the Home app on iPhone, at home or away.
  • Sound Recognition for smoke or carbon monoxide alarms, with notifications to iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
  • Compatible with HomePod software 27.2; Siri AI in English planned for Australia via software update.

Is the new Apple TV 4K worth upgrading to?

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K has far-field microphones, so you can talk to Siri without picking up the remote. Siri AI is available at launch in Australia in English. Apple also says it's faster, though the press release text I read doesn't name the chip. As a home hub, it adds AI-written descriptions of camera activity and summarised notifications in the Home app. If you already have a recent Apple TV that works well, it's worth waiting for real-world reviews. Apple says Siri AI is also coming as a beta to the 2nd-generation Apple TV 4K and later.

Apple TV 4K (4th generation) features (Apple Newsroom)

  • Siri AI at launch in Australia in English (beta in tvOS 27.2) with a full-screen entertainment search experience.
  • Three far-field microphones for hands-free Siri, with echo cancellation while audio is playing.
  • A19 chip — up to 50% faster CPU and up to 2× faster GPU than the previous generation; dedicated AV1 decoder.
  • RRP A$449 inc. GST in Australia; pre-order now; in stores from Friday 13 November 2026.
  • Four-speaker surround with four HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers in matching front/rear pairs.
  • Apple Intelligence-generated camera activity descriptions and summarised notifications in the Home app.
  • Compatible doorbell notifications on TV — see visitors, speak to them, and control accessories without leaving your show.
  • Home hub with automations, guest mode, HomeKit Secure Video, built-in Wi-Fi, and Thread.
  • Siri AI can surface poster art and suggestions from the Apple TV app and answer follow-up questions while watching.
  • Personal context with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone (for example, “Play the show Alinda recommended”).
  • Siri Remote adds Find My with Precision Finding and play-a-sound; remote also sold separately.
  • Apple Fitness+, Apple Arcade, Apple TV app, Continuity Camera FaceTime, and customisable iCloud photo screen savers.
  • Siri AI also available as a beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later.

Some content and live sports called out in Apple’s release are not confirmed for Australia (for example Formula 1, MLS, and Friday Night Baseball are listed for the U.S.). Far-field Siri language support varies by region.

Can I buy the Apple Home Collection in Australia?

Not yet. Apple says the LG and Schneider cameras, video doorbell, smart lock and thermostats will be sold in the US, Canada and the UK from December, and Apple hasn't announced Australian availability. In the meantime, Australians can keep using the many "Works with Apple Home" and Matter accessories already on sale here.

Apple Home Collection features (Apple Newsroom)

  • Line-up includes indoor and outdoor cameras, thermostats, temperature sensors, a video doorbell, and a smart deadbolt lock (LG and Schneider Electric).
  • One-tap setup with iPhone; everything managed in the Apple Home app — no separate app or account required.
  • Home app data encrypted end-to-end; Apple says LG Electronics, Schneider Electric, and Apple cannot read it.
  • LG cameras capture up to 2.5K video and recognise people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles, and packages (with supported iCloud+).
  • LG Video Doorbell: dual cameras (2.5K front, Full HD bottom), built-in spotlight, chime through HomeView, HomePod, or HomePod mini.
  • LG Floodlight Cam and Outdoor Cam with colour night vision; Indoor Cam auto-tilts for privacy when household members return.
  • LG Smart Deadbolt with Ultra Wideband auto-unlock, PIN pad, backup key slot, and guest access shared through the Home app.
  • LG and Schneider Smart Thermostats with Adaptive Temperature in the Home app, using on-device intelligence from iPhone.
  • Matter compatible accessories; Thread support; accessories can refresh Wi-Fi credentials if your home network changes.
  • Not sold in Australia at launch. Video doorbell and cameras: U.S., Canada, and UK from December. Lock and thermostats: U.S. and Canada.
  • Apple lists U.S. starting prices in its release (for example doorbell from US$249.95) — Australian pricing not announced.
  • Clean Energy Guidance and ADT professional installation at Apple Retail are described for the U.S. only in Apple’s press release.

What does this mean for small businesses?

These are home products first, but a few of them could be useful in a small office, studio or shopfront:

  • HomeView in a small office could show the team calendar, run FaceTime calls and control lights and heating from the wall. The face recognition helps when several people share one device, but think about privacy and staff consent before putting a camera-equipped screen in a shared space.
  • Apple TV 4K in a meeting room is still a simple, cheap way to share screens with AirPlay. Hands-free Siri is handy, but a meeting room probably doesn't need it.
  • HomePod mini 2 is affordable background music for a café or salon, but check your music licensing. A personal Apple Music subscription isn't licensed for commercial venues.
  • Check device compatibility. Many of the AI features depend on recent iPhones and iPads. If your team's devices are a few years old, you won't get the full experience.
  • Wait for the security gear. If you were hoping for Apple-certified cameras and locks for your premises, they aren't here yet. Matter-compatible options available locally are the practical choice for now.

My honest take: none of this is a must-buy for most businesses on day one. The interesting part is Siri AI. If it really is more capable, voice assistants could finally become useful at work, but that needs testing in the real world.

When can I get them?

  • HomePod mini 2: pre-order now, in stores Friday 30 October 2026.
  • HomeView and Apple TV 4K: pre-order now, in stores Friday 13 November 2026.
  • PoE wall mount: early 2027.
  • Home Collection: no Australian date announced.
